Meccha Chameleon Update Milestones

A stable digest of official announcements that materially change purchase decisions or strategy. This is not an automated patch scraper and does not claim every minor hotfix.

Last checked August 10, 2026: entries below were verified against the developer's official Steam announcement feed and the official Steam store page. For a patch released after this date, follow the official feed first and treat older route or control advice as provisional.

Verified milestone timeline

Date announcedOfficial milestoneWhy it matters here
July 4, 202615 million copies soldReplaces stale 7 million claims; the number remains a dated milestone, not a live counter.
June 26, 2026GeForce NOW support announcedAdds an official streaming access path, but does not create a native mobile or macOS release.
June 25, 202610 million copies soldShows why undated sales figures age quickly and should not be repeated as “current.”

Current patch window: 3.5.0 to 3.6.1

The August 2026 announcements contain changes that alter practical advice, so they belong here instead of being reduced to a version list.

VersionVerified changeGuide consequence
3.6.1Reduced performance drops at high player counts and corrected over-broad blocked-word filtering.Update every client before shrinking a room or blaming the host connection.
3.6.0Added Deep Sea, persistent game settings, number-input buttons, and smaller future update files.Rebuild map routes from live landmarks; confirm saved room settings before each session.
3.5.3Added camera-axis inversion and fixed color values that did not save or reset correctly.Old control screenshots and paint troubleshooting steps may now be stale.
3.5.0Added Exit 8, friend-server search, palette UI changes, and muted microphones by default.Room setup and voice checks should follow the current options screen, not launch-day instructions.
3.2.0Reported that the malicious MOD-map execution path had been closed and confirmed with Steam Support.Update through Steam and still treat Workshop files, chat links, and separate executables as third-party risk.

Map changes that invalidate old route lists

Official updates describe reworks, expansions, randomized elements, and new maps including Backrooms, Mansion, Sewer, Penguin Hotel, Sugarland, Osaka, Exit 8, and Deep Sea. That is why this site no longer publishes brittle “walk to this exact pixel” pages for each map.

Reworked or expanded spaces

When geometry changes, remember the decision rule rather than the coordinate: seek long sightlines, repeated props, shadow transitions, and believable edges. Rebuild your route from landmarks visible in the current version.

Randomized elements

A memorized room order becomes unreliable. At spawn, identify one anchor, one safe rotation path, and one fallback surface. Seekers should divide areas by live landmarks, not yesterday's screenshot.

What to recheck after every substantial patch

ControlsOpen the current settings instead of trusting an old default-key table.
Map landmarksConfirm that a route, prop cluster, or room still exists before teaching it.
Lobby capacityThe store says the maximum depends on host PC; verify the live room.
Workshop contentReview the selected item and host requirements again after an update.
Platform supportStreaming support and native releases are different claims; verify the wording.
Guide timestampPrefer advice with a review date, evidence link, and a correction path.

How this update page stays useful

We add an item only when it changes a buyer's platform decision, replaces a major public milestone, or changes the reliability of gameplay guidance. We do not manufacture a “latest patch” headline from every small note. Each retained fact needs an official link, an announcement date, and a plain-language consequence.

If an official post conflicts with this guide, the official post wins. Send the URL and affected sentence through the correction channel; we review factual correction requests separately from general feedback.
