August 10 status: the developer's official July notices said a malicious MOD-map path was patched, the game itself was not affected by the later Discord breach, and the official Discord was subsequently restored. Those statements do not make every third-party file trustworthy; they narrow the verified incident and reinforce the checks below.
If a Discord message claims an emergency fix requires a separate executable, do not run it. Open Steam's announcement feed independently, update through the Steam client, and use the developer's current support route rather than links copied from chat.
